What’s Coming to Mindful Motion Physical Therapy

This year brings both excitement and new frontiers for Mindful Motion Physical Therapy, and I can’t wait to share what’s unfolding with the Oak Park community. Over the coming months, you’ll see new ways to work together, learn together, and approach healing in a way that honors the whole person.

Here are some of the offerings and directions I’ve been intentionally building toward.

Mindfulness-Based Physical Therapy

At Mindful Motion PT, we continue to lead and innovate in the physical therapy space by integrating the most up-to-date evidence in physical therapy and pain science with ongoing training in mindfulness-based approaches.

This model allows us to address not only strength, mobility, and injury recovery, but also the nervous system patterns that often keep pain and tension stuck. By working with the body, mind, and nervous system together, care becomes more sustainable, personalized, and effective—especially for people living with persistent or recurring pain.

If you’re interested in learning more about this approach, you can read more here and here.

Mindfulness Classes

This year, I’m excited to introduce donation-based mindfulness classes, open to individuals living with ongoing pain as well as those simply curious about beginning a mindfulness practice.

These classes will offer a consistent place to gather, learn, and practice together. We’ll focus on foundational mindfulness skills such as awareness of the body, breath, and nervous system, along with gentle inquiry into stress, pain, and everyday challenges.

Over a 4–6 week period, participants can expect to:

  • Develop greater awareness of bodily sensations and stress responses

  • Build tools for calming and regulating the nervous system

  • Relate to pain and discomfort with more ease and less fear

  • Feel more grounded, present, and connected—both in daily life and movement

These classes are designed to be accessible, supportive, and community-centered.

1-on-1 Mindfulness Training

For those looking to deepen their mindfulness practice in a more personalized way, I also offer 1-on-1 mindfulness training, available on a donation-based model.

During 30–60 minute sessions, we work together to explore practices that fit your life, nervous system, and goals. Sessions may include guided meditation, compassionate inquiry, breath-based practices, and practical ways to integrate mindfulness into movement, pain management, work, or daily routines.

This offering is especially helpful if you’re seeking:

  • Individualized support starting or sustaining a practice

  • Tools to work skillfully with pain, stress, or overwhelm

  • A quieter, more focused space for exploration and reflection

Education & Teaching

As part of expanding care beyond the clinic, I’ll also be offering lectures and trainings on mindfulness-informed physical therapy for students, clinicians, and community spaces.

These educational offerings are designed to bridge movement science, pain education, and mindfulness—helping both healthcare providers and community members better understand how the nervous system influences healing, resilience, and recovery.

Collaborative Care

Healing rarely happens in isolation. This year, Mindful Motion PT will continue to grow through collaboration with aligned practitioners, including physicians, massage therapists, estheticians, psychotherapists, and other physical therapists.

By working together across disciplines, we can offer more connected, whole-person care—supporting patients not just during sessions, but across the broader landscape of their health and wellbeing.

If any of these offerings resonate with you, or if you’re simply curious to learn more, I’d love to connect.

How is this different than other physical therapy practices?

We don’t just chase symptoms, we help you understand them and find the root cause. Most PT clinics will give you a list of exercises, send you home, and hope for the best. At Mindful Motion, we slow things down. We start by listening to your story, digging into the “why” behind your pain, and creating a plan that works for your life.

Why Mindfulness Meditation?

Why Mindfulness Meditation?

Depending on where you want to go in your therapy, Mindfulness Meditation can act as any number of things for you and your life. Let's start with some definitions.

Mindfulness is the purposeful ability to observe one's thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations without judgment, and to be fully present in the current moment

Meditation is the tool which we use to cultivate mindfulness in our daily lives.

Okay... so why mindfulness meditation for my recovery?
The implications of practicing Mindfulness Meditation with patience and persistence can be profound to your recovery from injury or pain. It can also have an impact to your contact to the present moment, your relationships to yourself and your thoughts, to your loved ones, and the world. You can learn to deal with stress, hardships, and the ups and downs of life with more equanimity.
We're taking your body to the gym by doing the exercises we prescribe. Why not also take your mind to the gym and help create lasting habits which can improve your quality of life.
